So much is going on in our world today: microchips, 5G, Starlink, NeuroLink, nanotechnology, genetic & bio-engineering, cryptocurrency, and so on. So much we don’t understand. Yet many, with confidence, call these successes, like the Covid-19 vaccine which is still an “unknown?” experiment.
Growing up in the sixties there were no thoughts or even imaginations of such things, sci-fi talk at best, but what I miss the most was the trust we exercised in one another. In general, it seemed like everyone had some fear of God, a respect for others, or at least believed that righteousness would prevail. But even back then, I remember my dad giving warnings of the deceit at hand and the deceit to come. He often said, “Dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus name,” a lyric to one of his favorite songs. Have I told you how I miss my dad? Have you read The Jesus My Father Showed Me? (I am working a second and updated version of this book in conjunction with my other writings which should come out some time in 2025,)
Well, not only has “the deceit to come” arrived, it’s publicized boldly to our faces while we are being “taught” to trust science. Righteousness will not prevail and the injustices are at the top of the ratings. Everywhere we turn, someone is screaming “injustice” unless you are the one screaming, then you will be called intolerant or a racist. Truth is now just a conspiracy theory. Can I say it? There is “no fear” of God. In fact, you dare not even mention God in public. To do so will now make you a lunatic, out of touch with reality or certainly not up to date on the facts. Wait a minute, so where do I find the facts, where is truth? What can I believe?
Everyone is asking these questions.
Folks, whether we chose to believe it or not, God’s Word is truth. It’s in God’s Word that I find the peace and rest we all long for during these times. As a matter of fact, the more bazaar the headlines get, the more God’s Word is validated. In the Scriptures, I have read in days past about tomorrow’s headlines, and the more uncertain I feel due to current events the deeper I search the Scriptures. Think about this, what Scripture verses I have struggled to understand in the past are now becoming understood with these current events. The Bible is not only relevant with our times, it helps us to define our times.
I have said this before in “Maybe It’s Good We Don’t Know," God is not surprised about what’s going on, He makes no mistakes, He throws nothing away. He is ready and waiting to redeem your past and make your life new. So here’s what I want to give you today. In a moment of worry and concern thinking about our world, and feeling downtrodden wanting to make a difference, I was reminded of this truth.
“This world is NOT my home, I’m just a passing through. If Heaven’s not my home, Oh Lord, what would I do?”
Remember, as a child of God, we are only visitors here for a moment with the awesome privilege to tell others about this truth. So keep the smile, be of good cheer, knowing that He will soon call us home!
