Christmas is an exciting time of year. The entire world seems to know to put aside the troubles of life; buildings are decorated with bright lights, songs of love, peace and joy fill our airwaves, everyone greets each other with Christmas cheer with a “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas.”
Even wars stop for a moment and enemies exchange best wishes. So, there MUST be something special about Christmas!
What could it be? What's it all about? Why all the fuss?
So how did our Christmas Traditions become so self-centered that we forget? Traditions, now there is a buzzword. No matter who you are or what you believe, we all seem to like them. It seems everyone is busy about the season. There are things to decorate, things to buy, things to wrap, things to cook, things to eat, things to give and things to get. And we do all these things at the many parties where we meet. There's your Sunday School class party, workplace party, mid-day lunch party, neighborhood party, friends party and all the others. We all get so excited that we wear ourselves out and start wishing for it all to get over so that we can sit back and relax and NOT see each other again until next year! What is Christmas all about anyway?
How foolish!?! While Jesus Christ sacrificed ALL to give us the greatest gift of Eternal Life and now it seems we are all trying to outdo Jesus with a better gift. Can we do that? A better gift? An Eternal gift?
Yes, we can. One that can be given throughout the year. A gift that brings joy and peace to everyone who receives it. And a joy and peace that doesn't grow old like that toy you bought last year. Wow. We can give such a gift? Remember it's Jesus' birthday and it should be to Him we give our gifts.
And we know what He wants. He wants us to share this good news to everyone we meet. Here is what the true “Christmas Tradition” is: To everyone who has received the gift of Eternal Life, we are to give that gift to another. So go tell your world about that baby Jesus, the King of Kings, the Great I AM, lover of our souls.
Simply share your story of how Jesus changed your life.
Merry Christmas!
